Join us for a fire-side chat with rising-star, Lieutenant Colonel, The Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MBE VR MP and former Two Cities Member of Parliament, The Rt Lord Tugendhat. Tom and Christopher will be interviewed by our local Member of Parliament, Nickie Aiken MP. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.

Tom was made Minister of State for Security in September of this year, and served previously as Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee. He also has a distinguished and fascinating military career.

Christopher served as Two Cities MP, and later European Vice-Commissioner in the 1970s and the 1980s.

Drinks, canapés and nibbles will be served to guests at this event.

Lieutenant Colonel The Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MBE VR MP

Minister of State for Security, former Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Member of Parliament
for Tonbridge and Malling

Tom was appointed Minister of State for Security in September 2022 and attends cabinet. He previously served as the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee from 2017 to 2022. He has been the Member of Parliament for Tonbridge and Malling since 2015.

Before being elected as an MP, Tom served on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also worked for the Foreign Office, helping to set up the National Security Council of Afghanistan and the government in Helmand Province. On returning to the UK, Tom served as the military assistant and principal adviser to the Chief of the Defence Staff to the British Army.

Lord Tugendhat has been a Conservative member of the House of Lords since 1993. He was a European Commissioner from 1977 - 1981, and later Vice-President of the Commission from 1981 - 1985. Previosuly, Lord Tugendhat served as City of London & Westminster South MP from 1970 - 1976.

Lord Tugendhat has also published several books on the history of the Conservative Party and its relationship with Europe through the years. Lord Tugendhat is the uncle of Tom Tugendhat and has for many years, been instrumental in British politics.
