Following a long campaign by your Councillors, the Council is now consulting on a traffic management scheme which would restrict coach use on Chester Row, Chester Square, Eaton Square and Elizabeth Street.
If residents support the proposals it can be implemented in March. TfL and the police will then be able to enforce. The local bus route will be unaffected. We are keen to make sure that coaches and heavy lorries remain on Grosvenor Place and don’t come through narrow residential streets unless they specifically need to be there.
The general effect of the Order would be to prohibit all buses, except for “local
buses”, from entering the following lengths of road:
(a) Chester Row, between South Eaton Place and Elizabeth Street;
(b) Chester Square (north-western arm), between Elizabeth Street and Chester
Square (south-western arm);
(c) Chester Square (south-eastern arm), between Elizabeth Street and the northwestern
boundary of No. 46 Chester Square;
(d) Eaton Square (south-eastern arm), between South Eaton Place and Eccleston
Street; and
Any objections or other representations about the proposal should be sent in writing to the Council’s agents, WSP Traffic Order Team, 3rd Floor, WSP House, 70 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1AF, or by email to [email protected] quoting reference 7757/HWB, by 22nd February 2023. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
