At last night's Full Council, Cllr Barbara Arzymanow questioned Labour Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg over Westminster's planned segregated C43 cycleway.
Thank you Lord Mayor. My question is for the Cabinet Member for Highways. Councillor Dimoldenberg, you will recall we met earlier this month on George Street to inspect the proposed changes for the segregated C43 cycleway. I emailed follow-up questions to you. Please, can you confirm that these questions will be answered in writing, in particular on George Street?
Who has the priority on the 11 crossroads to the north and seven to the south, on the 450 metre stretch between Edgware Road and Gloucester Place?
Councillor Dimoldenberg replied,
Thank you, Lord Mayor. I was asked if I would confirm that the answers to Councillor Arzymanow’s questions will be sent to her in writing, and I can confirm that is the case.
Councillor Arzymanow asked a supplementary question.
Please, can you confirm why you are willing to proceed with George Street Cycleway without knowing what the Mayor of London has planned for Oxford Street? A completed cycleway on George Street may compromise the best option.
Councillor Dimoldenberg replied,
Lord Mayor, the world doesn't stop until we wait for those Oxford Street plans. I'm sure that the Mayor will take note of the plans we have for cycleway along George Street, because it's the Mayor’s cycleway that we will be implementing. So I'm sure that he will applaud our speedy work on this and take it into full account when considering what plans he brings forward for Oxford Street. Thank you.
