Following continued efforts to save the English National Opera (ENO), fostering constructive conversations between the ENO, Arts Council England and the government, Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, was delighted to hear that the announcement that the demand for ENO to leave London has been deferred until 2029.
The announcement lifts the immediate threat of redundancies for the entire orchestra and chorus as well as the 300 full-time and 300 part-time staff.
Throughout, the ENO has been collegiate and resilient despite the risk to individuals’ livelihoods.
Nickie will continue to do all she can to find a way forward that keeps this incredible and historic company alive in the West End!
