The GLA Conservatives remain intent on holding the mayor to account for his wasteful spending. The Mayor has repeatedly shown that he willing to waste our money. He has neglected to fund the things our city needs most, such as affordable housing, crime prevention initiatives and public transport.
It’s worth noting that during the Mayor’s time in office, his staff costs have risen by £2.2 million and he continues to spend £13 million a year on his public relations firm.
It’s vital, now more than ever, that public funds aren’t wasted, but are instead spent on the services and infrastructure we urgently require.
West Central Assembly Member Tony Devenish said “That’s why I, along with my fellow Conservative Assembly Members, have drawn up a fully costed budget amendment that cuts waste and boosts spending for key services, including the police force. While reducing the overall level of spending, our amendment would create a £104 million Violent Crime Emergency Fund that provides an additional 1,600 police officers.”
