The Mayor’s Wasteful Staff Spending

he latest figures from the Greater London Assembly (GLA) reveal the Mayor’s wasteful spending on his staff. The Mayor’s staff rose from 897 in 2016 to 2002 in 2020. This overwhelming rise also means that increasing amounts of our money is being spent on the Mayor’s staff. 

London Assembly Member for West Central Tony Devenish commented that, “It is simply unacceptable that the Mayor continues to hire more and more staff while crime spirals out of control. The Mayor is spending more money on his staff at a time when this should be spent on policing and crime prevention.”

These figures show the Mayor’s priorities. He would rather increase his staff than fight crime in our city. 

Tony Devenish added, "call on the Mayor to re-examine his priorities and put our city’s safety first.”
