After Nickie Aiken's visit to the Belgravia Branch of Waitrose earlier this year, she was delighted to return with the Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, to show him how the store is championing the Government’s Access to Work scheme.
Access to Work helps people to get or stay in work if they have a physical or mental health condition or disability, and Waitrose in Belgravia is using the scheme to support five deaf Partners into work with interpreters.
On the visit, it was fantastic to meet Abdolreza, Elena, and Gary, three of Waitrose's deaf Partners, as well as Emma and Bella, their interpreters. It was clear to see how much of a difference this Government fund has made and show the Minister his work in action.
Nickie thanks the whole team at Waitrose, and if you’re an employer, encourages you to support someone into work through Access to Work.
