Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, spoke out to champion the critical role of London Zoo in a Westminster Hall debate brought forward by Bob Blackman, Member of Parliament for Harrow East, on extending the lease of London Zoo.
London Zoo opened its doors in 1828. Ever since, it has been an integral part of Westminster and what central London has to offer, welcoming millions of local people, families, visitors, and tourists through its gates.
During the debate on extending its lease, Nickie explained that the Zoo has a critical role in global animal conservation and carries out important scientific research to protect endangered species in the wild. Not only that, but it delivers crucial training for the next generation of conservationists and gives back to its local community through its outstanding Community Access Scheme.
