Ahead of Wednesday's Spring Budget, Nickie Aiken, MP for the Cities of London and Westminster, caught up with Nigel Huddleston MP, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury.
Nickie took the opportunity to raise a number of our local priorities, including our campaign to return tax-free shopping, the VAT rate for hairdressing and beauty sectors, and an unintended consequence of inheritance tax which, in the case of a deceased estate, results in tax paid based on an estimation rather than value.
Nickie also argued that any tax loopholes that AirBnB landlords take advantage of should be tightened, and she has made the argument directly to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt MP.
The Chancellor will outline his Spring Budget on Wednesday, expected at around 12:45. Watch live here.
