We caught up with Cllr Karen Scarborough. Karen explains why she is standing for re-election to Westminster City Council in May.
I have had the privilege of being a Marylebone High Street Ward Councillor for almost eight years and I would love to continue serving all the residents.
I am passionate about greening, I am passionate about air quality and presently I've been sitting for the last few years on the Leader's Climate Action Group where we are looking to achieve our net-zero by 2040. "We're looking to do things with our council buildings to make them emission-free.
We're improving with over a thousand EV charging points.
We've trialled food waste collections in some of the Wards in the borough.
We're about to roll this out throughout the borough.
We have two refuse collections a week and one recycling collection a week, which we're encouraging our residents to recycle even more. As I say, I'm passionate about air quality and improving air quality. "I'm the Lead Member for Air Quality. I've done lots of work in Marylebone to promote more zebra crossings, to facilitate more walking.
We've got more cycle hangars for people who want to cycle.
We've got the Rain Gardens in Marylebone, which provides plants which will absorb pollution. And we've planted lots of trees in Marylebone over the last four years and we're still looking for places to plant more.
