We spoke with Two Cities MP Nickie Aiken and Prospective MP Tim Barnes outside Parliament.
Tim explained,
"Less than 48 hours after being selected by over 200 local residents as your new Prospective MP, I was delighted to be in Parliament today to see a major victory for local residents.
Five years of hard work by our Conservative MP, Nickie Aiken, came to fruition with the end of the debate on the Pedicabs Bill which has now been passed by Parliament and on its way to the statute books.
Pedicabs will soon come under regulation by Transport for London, who will consult on the details this summer.
In the Chamber, Nickie thanked local people and organisations, including the Marylebone Association and the Soho Society, for their support.
As your new Prospective MP, I will work with Nickie and TfL to ensure that the process runs as quickly as possible, and we hope to see pedicabs regulated this autumn. We will now turn our attention to issues with e-bikes and scooters."
Transport Minister Guy Opperman congratulated Nickie on her hard work for the City of London and Westminster residents and on gathering real cross-party support to make it happen.
