The news that the London Mayoral and Assembly elections have been postponed until May 2021 is disappointing but understandable. Tony Devenish commented that, “While I had looked forward to the opportunity to campaign to remain your Assembly Member for West Central, it is clear that delaying the elections is necessary for our city’s safety.”
The Assembly elections are important. But it is vital that we keep safe and remain socially distanced for the time being. Tony observed that, “I may not be able to campaign for re-election, however I will continue to work as hard as ever for everyone who lives and works in West Central.”
The GLA Conservatives will use this year to oppose the Mayor’s wasteful spending and highlight his mismanagement of London’s finances. Tony added, “I welcome the opportunity to have an additional year to stand up for the things that our city needs urgently. I will fight to ensure an effective response to the crisis which keeps London safe. I will also push the Mayor to provide support to business to allow them to get back to work when the time is right.”
