Prospective MP Tim Barnes joined local people and representatives of the business community at the Victoria Neighbourhood Forum, to discuss the potential for a Victoria Neighbourhood Plan. Tim explains
"I'm here at the Conrad Hotel, just by St James’s Tube, where there's been a meeting of the Victoria Neighbourhood Forum in order to discuss the emerging possibilities of a Victoria Plan.
"Now, a neighbourhood plan is something that we have in several different parts of Westminster, in the constituency, from Mayfair and Soho to Knightsbridge and Belgravia. And they are local plan-use documents.
"This is one of the smallest areas in which the democratic process is able to take place.
"Local residents, local businesses take part in helping to shape the future priorities that they would like to see: for planning applications, for uses of land and for the money that comes from something called the Community Infrastructure Levy or CIL.
"It's a way in which people can get involved, and if there is something like this in your area, I'd encourage you to take part."
