Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster brought the executive directors for property and repairs from Peabody for a walkabout of the Tachbrook Estate, Pimlico.
After Nickie's housing survey earlier this year and her conversations with local people living on the Estate uncovered huge concerns, she invited Peabodys’ Peter Evans, Executive Director of Property Services, Neil Watts, Group Director of Repairs, and Annemarie Fenlon, Managing Director of Northwest London, to meet with her and hear from local people.
It was certainly an eye-opening visit for management, with local people highlighting their damp and mould issues, poor workmanship and general lack of communication. They were given assurances by Peabody that they are taking these issues seriously, and over the coming days and weeks will act to put things right. Nickie will keep the pressure on Peabody to keep their word.
However, experiences, as seen on the Tachbrook Estate, are not a one-off, and Nickie presented the Executive Director with a dossier of all current Peabody cases people have been in touch with me. Nickie will hold them to account to ensure further action is taken.
Everyone deserves to live in a property they can be proud to call home. If you have an issue with your housing provider, Peabody or any other, please get in touch with Nickie here.
