Today Assembly Member for West Central Tony Devenish, highlighted the current Mayor’s failure to listen to the views of local people.
The Mayor recently introduced a highly inappropriate cycle lane running up Park Lane which has led to intense congestion and lengthy traffic jams. Tony has been urging London Mayor Sadiq Khan to listen to the views of local people when it comes to the cycle lane.
Tony believes that the Mayor should consult the views of those who are affected most by the ill-thought-out cycle lane scheme.
In addition, the Mayor has also hiked the congestion charge to £15 a day, expanded it to include evenings and weekends and eliminated the residents’ discount.
This is clearly not in the interests of local people and our city. Now is the time to support those living in our city, not increase the congestion charge.
Commenting on the Mayor’s failure Tony said,
The Mayor must listen to the views of local people.
They do not want this new cycle lane which has led to heightened levels of congestion and harm being done to the environment.
Londoners deserve a voice that is heard by those at City Hall.
It is time to elect a Mayor who will do just that. Vote for Conservative Mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey in the upcoming local elections!
