In Hyde Park earlier today, Prospective MP Tim Barnes shared episode nine of Diary of a Candidate. Tim says
"Hello and welcome to Diary of a Candidate, Week Nine. Oh my God, how things have changed since we last spoke! It is now clear that we have a general election that's in about six weeks time. With me this evening, I have Elizabeth, our new Deputy Chair, Political, for the constituency. She's only been doing the job a couple of days.
"I don't think this is necessarily what she signed up for, but in the last 24 hours, we've been organising about 20 new campaign sessions across this week. We've ordered new literature ranging from leaflets, to a new direct mail campaign, and a whole load of online social media activity. It's getting really exciting. It's wonderful to have had all of the plans that we've been putting forward over the last couple of months, turning into action and seeing the activities that take place.
"We've just left a campaign session with Ric Holden, the Party Chairman, who's come out to help us here in Hyde Park this evening. And as we get out over the next few days, right the way across Cities of London and Westminster, it will be really exciting to see what people think now that they've gone, has been fired. And we can stop talking about the just, you know, idea of an election and start talking about what it really means to people.
"For me, that's going to be, issues like, e-bikes and the management of those across the city. It's going to be about the importance of our public services. It's going to be about the issues of crime that we will face, and it's going to be about housing. There's a whole load of things like that, details which will be coming in the print media and online over the next few days.
"So keep checking us out on social media, keep checking us out online and you will find more and more information each time you log on. Thanks very much."
