Two Cities MP celebrates Ukraine's Independence Day

Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster, Nickie Aiken, joined celebrations for Ukraine's Independence Day at the Ukrainian Welcome Centre in Mayfair.

Speaking after the celebrations, Nickie said,

"I've just been to visit the Ukrainian Welcome Centre. They are having a special event today to mark National Ukrainian Day. Obviously, it's a very different celebration this year because of the war in Ukraine and the illegal Russian invasion. Everybody was feeling, you know, nostalgic about their home country, wishing they were at home with their families, celebrating as usual.

"But we know because of Putin's tyranny, they can't. And I wanted to send a very clear message to everybody here and across the Two Cities that we stand with Ukraine. And we must ensure that we work together to bring this dreadful war to an end. So people who are celebrating today here in this country can go home and this time next year, celebrate at home."
