Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, continued her campaign to ensure delivery cyclists ride safely, meeting with the Transport Minister, Jesse Norman MP, to discuss how delivery cyclists should undertake a cycling safety test before they can begin working.
After hearing from so many of you issues about delivery cyclists going through red lights or riding on the pavement, and Nickie's own experience with a delivery cyclist, she is holding the companies to account to ensure they take their responsibilities seriously. Nickie is working with some of the leading companies such as Deliveroo, Getir, and Uber Eats, as well as cycling organisations Bikeability and Cycling UK to establish a simple but safe professional cycling certificate and encourage.
Nickie is am currently finalising what this scheme will look like, having met with companies and organisations several times on this. She hopes to share this over the coming weeks.
