Women’s Group Networking Event
On Thursday 30th June, the Cities of London & Westminster Conservative Association was thrilled to welcome the new team leading our Women’s Group for a fun evening of socialising and networking, but more importantly; Pimms in our garden at Ebury Street! The garden provided a great space to facilitate the discussion of ideas and the bringing together of like-minded people for this sell-out event. Our intention was to encourage members to take a more active role in the Association or perhaps consider standing for public office.
We are pleased to say that following this successful event, the Women’s Group now has a strong foundation upon which to build. Lots of new members are keen to support its activities and get more involved.
Sadly, showers interrupted our sunny Summer evening, but we took the party inside to our first-floor events space. Everyone enjoyed the laid-back and relaxed event.
After being served drinks, nibbles and cake, guests were treated first to a speech from the newly elected WG Chair, Eve Young, who explained the potential the group has, and stressed the important role women have played and continue to play in our party - the only party to have elected two female Prime Ministers. This was followed by a speech from the newly elected Chair of the Association, James Spencer who outlined his vision for the Association and his enthusiastic support for the Group.
Delighted about the success of the evening, Eve Young said
It was fabulous to bring together so many talented and enthusiastic women, who are interested in taking a more active role in political life in these exciting times. The evening was great fun. If you’d like to find out more about us, please get I touch.
James Spencer echoed Eve’s words of welcome.
Organisations like our Women’s Group, the wider CWO network and Women to Win play a crucial part in engaging with women and encouraging them to get involved. I am very grateful to Eve and her team for organising the first event of my term as Chair!
