Councillor Jonathan Glanz reports:
Residents will be aware that central London recently played host to the hugely successful Lumiere Festival, and a number of lighting installations were scattered across the area, including across parts of Mayfair and Soho.
Like many, I visited and enjoyed a number of the installations, but unfortunately the festival became a victim of its own success because of overcrowding at various venue points, including Grosvenor Square, as well as leaving damage to the grassed area, which now needs repair.
As a councillor for the West End my concern is for the safety of residents and visitors, as well as the impact of events on our local area.
There are clearly questions over whether the event should be held in the same area again, and I would like to see the organisers of the event assess the impacts it had on the local area and local residents, and arrange ways to reduce adverse impacts from future events.
