The Mayor’s inappropriate funding priorities continue to concern Tony Devenish Assembly Member for West Central. The Mayor is spending twice as much on culture related projects than his Conservative predecessor. He has also increased the number of bureaucrats at City Hall by 30%.
He has today announced that he plans to axe a scheme that funds 339 local police officers. While he boosts funding for his office’s staff at City Hall, he is cutting funding for our hardworking police. These appalling figures reveal where the Mayor’s focus lies.
Tony was interviewed by LBC where he expressed his consternation at the Mayor’s funding priorities. Tony said, “It appears that the Mayor is more interested in PR and bureaucrats than our city’s police force. I urge the Mayor to rethink his priorities. He should be focusing on keeping local people safe by increasing police funding. We need a Mayor that cares about our city.”
