Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster, caught up with the Transport Secretary, Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps MP, to discuss the pedicabs licensing scheme she has secured in the upcoming Transport Bill.
Speaking, Nickie said,
"I'm here with Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, who has agreed, along with the Prime Minister, to include a pedicab licensing scheme in the forthcoming Transport Bill. Grant, thank you so much and please pass on my thanks to the Prime Minister."
Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps MP, replied,
"I'll do exactly that. And well done to you, Nickie, because you campaigned endlessly for this. Every corner, everywhere I turn, there was Nickie campaigning for pedicab legislation. It's long overdue, of course, because it's a form of transport, public transport not at all legislated for, which means they can basically do anything they like. This will bring it under control. And it's something you have campaigned long and hard for. Well done on getting it done. It will be in the Transport Bill which will be introduced to the House later this year."
