The Two Cities is home to a thriving legal sector.
So Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Two Cities, was pleased to meet with the City of London Law Society team to discuss supporting access to justice and how we can work together to make sure the voice of City Law is heard in government.
The team are determined to change the look and feel of Law in the City and do a great deal of pro bono activity, including a fund to help solicitors from disadvantaged backgrounds through the Solicitors Qualifying Exam.
Nickie was glad to hear more about their ‘City Century’ initiative to encourage firms to recruit solicitor apprentices, the vast majority of applicants from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Here, they expect that within 2-3 years, City firms will produce 50-60 apprentice-grown solicitors yearly.
