We caught up with Tim Barnes for Episode Ten of Diary of a Candidate. Tim explains
"Welcome to ‘Diary of a Candidate’, Week Ten.
"Obviously, that's week ten of my being selected, but there are five weeks to go today, towards the election, and everything has changed compared to when we started this; everything about how we're working, the scale of the activity, the operations and the sheer volume of it!
On Saturday, we had a particularly wonderful day.
I was really happy with it. We had teams out all over the constituency, from the City in the east to St John's Wood in the North and Pimlico in the South.
"We had teams everywhere really getting involved with things and being very excited. New literature, new messages and some detail on some of the policy ideas and the things that we've got to concentrate on. And I really enjoyed it.
"Since then, we have had a fundraiser, just in the last day or two, with the Home Secretary: we had Victoria Atkins, the Secretary of State for Health, come down and visit St Mary's in Paddington to talk about the investment that the hospital needs, and that we are absolutely committed to ensuring it, as quickly as possible to secure our hospital, and the site.
"Some of the other activities, I've been to the opening of the Tresham Centre South, which is a support facility for parents and young people, 5 to 18-year-olds who have complex needs, autism, and other conditions, which might mean that they are in need of a little bit of respite and a little bit of additional care, particularly out of hours. And to give those parents a little bit of a break, when they need it.
"It's been therefore, you know, just something really busy, really, intense. So many new ideas, so many wonderful people coming out to help. And I've really enjoyed myself. And I hope the next five weeks can continue like this!"
