Tim Barnes is the Prospective MP for the Cities of London & Westminster. We caught up with him for Episode 12 of "Diary of a Candidate". Tim explains,
"There's less than three weeks to go until the general election and unfortunately, I didn't have time to do the Diary of a Candidate video yesterday, so it's coming a day late on a Friday.
"A week or so ago, I was talking to you just before the first of our hustings, which we did on the Golden Lane Estate out in the City.
"Last night was the hustings for Lillington and Longmoore Gardens down in Pimlico, which were attended by Churchill Gardens Estate residents and also by Russell House residents.
"It was a really different type of debate. And it's one of the reasons I love doing these things.
"In the first hustings, our first questions were about nuclear proliferation and some of the international affairs issues, as well as what we were going to do about Iran and its role in the Middle East.
"Most of the questions last night, first hour and a half or so, out of about a two-hour slot, was mostly about housing, with a bit of crime and issues like rough sleeping and homelessness coming up as well.
"But really personal, many more stories, and I stayed a long time after the hustings, talking with individual residents who had problems that we might be able to help with, and some of the issues there, and feeding back on some of the things that I've already been doing while I've been a candidate, and particularly where we’ve been able to feedback to the council on issues where we think that there need to be reviews of cases, people whose repairs just aren’t being done, and certainly not the first time, people who are now in accommodation that's unsuitable because they've got growing families and they're still stuck in a one bedroom flat.
"Those sorts of things really matter to individuals, and it's one of the reasons why I included housing as one of the critical issues in my plan for what I would do if elected on the 4th of July.
"There will be many campaigning events this weekend. We will be out in almost every ward on Saturday and Sunday.
"I hope you'll be able to join us. Visit the website at VoteTimBarnes.org for more information about any of those issues and details of how you can get involved.
"Thanks very much for all of your support."
