Local West End resident and Councillor Candidate, Paul Church, has set up an e-petition calling on the Government to ban unlicensed pedicabs from London’s West End.
Pedicabs (or rickshaws, as they are sometimes known) are currently unlicensed and uncontrolled. This means that people who hire them have no way of telling whose vehicle they are hiring and it is very difficult for local residents to report incidences of nuisance noise.
Many local West End residents have highlighted incidences of pedicabs playing loud music and flashing lights in the early hours of the morning and others have complained about pedicabs taking up space on pavements outside their homes, impeding them from accessing their front doors.
Paul Church says: “Unlicensed pedicabs are a constant nuisance to residents in Fitzrovia, Mayfair and Soho and I want to ensure that my neighbours in The West End do not suffer this blight any longer. We have a wonderful residential community in the West End and our residents must come first’.
